Song of the Day - I Was Gonna Cancel - Kylie Minogue

Kylie Minogue's second single off of her new Kiss Me Once album was written and produced by Happy singer Pharrell Williams, with whom Kylie had wanted to work with for a long time.  The two finally met sometime in 2013 in Los Angeles and worked on two songs together, this one and another called The Winners.  The concept for this one came oddly enough at the time the two were supposed to meet.  Our heroine was having a really bad day, so much so that she was thinking of backing out of the meeting.  Voila! A song was born.

The tune is a little discoey, pleasant, and very catchy.  It's not nearly as good as the first single, Into the Blue, but the chorus definitely stays in your head for awhile after a listen.  Now I'm gonna be singing all day long...

Stanley Cup Finals: NY Rangers Vs. Los Angeles Kings

So after a hard fought, and third straight, Game 7 victory last night over the Chicago Blackhawks, it is the LA Kings who will be the Rangers' foes in the Stanley Cup Finals.  Alec Martinez scored the game-winner at 5:47 in overtime to send the Kings, who won the Cup just two years ago, back to the big shows.

So it's New York vs. LA...a dream come true for the NHL.  The Kings, who are the favorites, are being picked to win by virtually everybody with any interest in the series.  Well, we shall see what happens.  The Series gets underway on Wednesday at 8 P.M. from the Staples Center in Los Angeles.  Here's the entire Stanley Cup Finals schedule:

Song of the Day - Time to Change - The Brady Bunch

Today's Song of the Day is in tribute to Ann B. Davis, who sadly passed away yesterday after a tragic fall in the bathtub put her into a coma from which she couldn't recover.  She was 88 years old.  For any of us who lived during the Brady Bunch years of the early 70's and beyond, Ann's character Alice, the Brady's self-deprecating housekeeper, was one of those faces we all knew, making daily visits to our living rooms for so many years taking care of the kids, dating Sam the Butcher and providing plenty of comic relief for our pleasure.

Towards the latter portion of the Bradys five-year run, the six kids, Greg, Marcia, Peter, Jan, Bobby and Cindy put on musical performances of songs that oldest brother Greg had written.  From what I remember, there were three songs that they did (the other two were Sunshine Day, Keep On Movin') and I loved them all, including Time to Change.  In the episode where this appeared, Peter's voice was changing (ah, adolescence!), and they used the cracks in his falsetto as a part of the tune. I thought it was fun then and it still is now.  Do you remember this????

Song of the Day - On the Floor - Jennifer Lopez

It's been a long, long time since I've posted anything by J-Lo.  Though she has got new material, I felt like putting up this one because it's such a beautiful day and this is such a feel good song!  Stay tuned for new J-Lo soon, and in the meantime enjoy your Sunday!
