Here's a newer song that J-Lo released a few weeks back, and it's taken until now for me to enjoy it. I thought the tune was a little corny at first, but it's got nice beats and a pretty catchy chorus. Oh, and the video?!?!!! Lots and lots of eye andy. I luh you papi, I luh luh luh you papi....

Some of the most popular posts on John's World over the past year or so have been my track by track reviews of current albums. Since tackling Madonna's M.D.N.A. last year, I've covered tracks from P!nk's The Truth About Love, Christina Aguilera's Lotus, Rihanna's Unapologetic, and recently Justin Timberlake's The 20/20 Experience. Now's the time to begin reviews of the tracks on two more albums, Pitbull's Global Warming, released in November of last year, and will.i.am's #willpower, which just came out last month. First up is the title track to Pitbull's Global Warming, which has been getting a lot of airtime on my iPod lately. The entire album is chock full of mesmerizing
dance floor ditties and tantalizing beats and we begin with a familiar sound, that of Los Del Rio's Macarena. The intro song is short, but infectious, with that easily identifiable and groovealicious music track, Pit's straight-up vocals and a Latin-infused guest rap by Dominican rapper Sensato. I believe this is my first Spanish language song posting for Song of the Day. The words "danza kuduro," loosely translated, means "dance hard," and that's just what I do when I hear it. The song is kind of new age reggaeton, it's got an awesome Latin beats and a catchy, dancey chorus, even though I'm not sure exactly what they're saying, lol. Check it out:
I was in the mod for something Latin today, and after trying out a few different songs I came up with this one from Shakira. The video just makes me feel a little warmer on this chilly autumn day, and I hope it does for you, too! Enjoy!
Oh yeah, this was a hot one alright! This song from surprisingly fitting Santana with Matchbox 20s' Rob Thomas was a smash back in 99', heard seemingly everywhere and all the time. But you could never help but sing along...
Today's "Song of the Day" is another double dose. Does anybody remember a female rapper called Ya Kid K? She rapped with a group called Technotronic back in the day and she had an unmistakable rapper's voice. The group had a couple of hits, including 'Pump Up the Jam,' 'Get Up (Before the Night is Over),' and this one, the catchy, soothing 'Move This.' Most of you who were around back in 1992 might remember this from a cosmetics commercial featuring then hot model Cindy Crawford. It was very hot!
What made me decide to feature 'Move This' was another song that also featured Ya Kid K singing some of the lyrics to this song in a whole new way. Robbie Rob was one half of the C&C Music Factory's Clivilles and Cole and he made an album called 'Robi-Rob's Clubworld' that was full of slammin' dance tunes that were out of sight! The most memorable song from that album was the still very popular in clubs and at parties 'Boriqua Anthem,' but to me this one's just as fun...a little Technotronic with some Latin flava made for a very jamming song. Check this one out first before you relive 'Move This'...and try to stay in your seat if you can!
