Madonna's Like a Prayer Album: 25 Years

Yesterday, March 21st, 2014 was a very special anniversary.  It was on this day in 1989 that Madonna's Like a Prayer album was released.  It's hard to believe it's been 25 years since that monumental album entered into our collective listening ears, but ah well, the time sure does fly, doesn't it?  Anyway, that album is surely one for the ages...it produced two of my favorite Madge songs, the title cut and Express Yourself. And the rest of the record was pretty darned monumental, too!

The song, Like a Prayer, is still my all-time favorite Madonna song, and I think one of hers, too.  She's performed it many times, including it in four of her concert tours, including the MDNA show, and it was included in her awesome performance at the 2012 Super Bowl.  The song swirled around in controversy, mostly for its video, but it was so good that its quality rose above all to become so enduring...

Life is a mystery...

Of course, then there's Express Yourself, a song that inspired Lady Gaga, no doubt, twenty years afterwards, the sweet Cherish and the fantastical Dear Jessie and so much more.  Stay tuned for a Classic Album Review coming soon on Yahoo. In the meantime, enjoy Dear Jessie...
