Song of the Day - With Every Heartbeat - Robyn with Kleerup

Wow! I have no idea really how I stumbled across this one, but I'm sure glad I did! Anyone who's read me knows what a huge Robyn fan I'd become over the past year. As I wrote in a piece on her 'Body Talk' trilogy, her songs are pop songs, yes, but they're far from so much of the mindless pop songs recorded over the years. Robyn's lyrics are always thoughtful and relevant to many a situation, as I so deeply experienced over the past winter.

'With Every Heartbeat' is a song off of Robyn's 2007 self-titled album. The song hit #1 in the UK and actually charted here in the US, peaking at #28. That could be why I liked it the first time I heard it the other day. I may just have heard it before...on the radio and probably even at her concert, but I don't remember.

The song is typical, and masterful, Robyn. The lyrics are tender and raw and of course the music is downright serial! I've probably listened to it about 25 times over the past two days...twice so far as I write this entry. I don't know, but it feels really good to have a new Robyn song to enjoy as much as I do, one that's totally for me!

With Every Heartbeat - With Every Heartbeat (With Kleerup) - EP

With Every Heartbeat

Maybe we could make it all right
We could make it better sometime
Maybe we could make it happen, baby

We could keep trying but things will never change

So I don't look back
Still I'm dying with every step I take
But I don't look back

Just a little, little bit better
Good enough to waste some time
Tell me, would it make you happy, baby

We could keep trying but things will never change

So I don't look back
Still I'm dying with every step I take
But I don't look back

We could keep trying but things will never change

So I don't look back
Still I'm dying with every step I take
But I don't look back

And it hurts with every heartbeat
And it hurts with every heartbeat
And it hurts with every heartbeat
And it hurts with every heartbeat
And it hurts with every heartbeat
And it hurts with every heartbeat
And it hurts with every heartbeat
And it hurts with every heartbeat
