It was a shame to have missed Hershey, one of my favorite places, but it was even worse for Eddie, who lives in Florida and doesn't have the ability to go anytime he wants like Rich and I do. All in all it was a great trip, still, and we got to see and do many wonderful things in the 8 days we were gone. Stay tuned for more on that,, but in the meantime here's one of our car songs from yesterday, Whitney Houston's pleasant, uplifting Million Dollar Bill...

Song of the Day - Million Dollar Bill - Whitney Houston
Good morning from cloudy Patchogue, Long Island, New York. We had to cut the last part of our trip, which was supposed to be Hersheypark, because of terrible downpours hitting this part of the country pretty much all day yesterday, and forecasted for today, as well. Driving was pretty hairy there for awhile yesterday, and the amount of rain pouring down made our decision to come home rather easy.

Song of the Day - I Wanna Dance with Somebody - Whitney Houston
When I went out with my pals Ozzie and Manny the other night, I figured I'd finally get to dance. I hadn't danced in so long! As the night turned out, though, we never even had the chance to dance. Ah well, but we did go to the relatively new Pride Lounge in Astoria.
There was a drag show going on and the tiny place was packed at the front to watch. This was kind of weird because the front and front side walls of the bar were actually windows where you could see (and hear) the drag show from outside before you even came in. Of course, Ozzie knew a couple of the performers, one of which was the always fun to watch Sassy Temptress. The hostess of the show, whose name I presently forget, also knew Ozzie/Ruby and lo and behold, a teeny spectacle was made as we entered.
Anyway, the four queens did a "Diva's Jukebox" number, where each of them performed short snippets of songs by famous divas. The hostess came up and did this one and the whole place was jumping and singing along.
Now we didn't need a dance floor. We didn't need much room, but me, Manny, Oz and the whole place was feeling the good vibes that this one always sends out. What better way to start of the week? Ooh, I wanna dance, and with somebody too!

Song of the Day - Heartbreak Hotel - Whitney Houston, with Faith Evans and Kelly Price

I heard this one for the first time in a long time last night, and I woke up with it in my head this morning. Oh, what'd ya do to me?

Song of the Day - Higher Love - Whitney Houston

Today's song comes courtesy of my bud Sonny, who passed on this little discovery to me in a text yesterday. I never knew Whitney covered this song. She actually recorded it for her I'm Your Baby Tonight album, but it never made the final cut (except on the Japanese release of the album). She did perform it on her Feels So Right Tour and this video is from that show. Like in the original, this song's got that inspirational feel to it, and I could just see The Preacher's Wife singing it at Sunday service. Check it out...
Oh, and thanks Sonny!

A Valentine's Song of the Day - My Love Is Your Love - Whitney Houston
If tomorrow is judgement day
And I'm standin' on the front line....
.jpg)
There are so many songs I could choose for Valentine's Day, and I did check out a lot of sources, including two pieces I've written on the subject (see below). Since it is Black History Month and I was going to feature Whitney Houston sometime, this song just made perfect sense for today. To me, love and devotion go hand in hand, and the truest of love songs intertwine the two.
This song, especially this version (the club remix was also a big hit for Houston), is sooo good....soulful and heartfelt, and even though I am still single, this is the type of love I'd love to have....
Happy Valentine's Day lovers!

2012: A Dedication

Well, it's a little after five o'clock on New Year's Eve, the last few hours of 2012. As with any year, this one was full of ups and downs, both in my world and the world around me. Such is life, right?
Writing has always been a form of therapy for me, and in my reflective posts I tend to think more clearly for myself, and so expect plenty of reflection from me tomorrow. I have a party to go to in a couple of hours, so there's little time for that at the moment. Besides right now I'm feeling a little sad about my Aunt Marion.
All I know is I do have regrets over my life in the last year, and looking forward I need to change some things. We'll see how that goes. In the meantime, here's one of my favorite ballads from P!nk's The Truth About Love. Like I've said before, the title is a bit different, but the sentiment behind the song is tender and beautiful, and I know I'd like to be beamed up, if only for a minute.

So to all of my readers, have a safe and happy New Year. Thanks, as always, for reading, and I'll see ya in 2013!

Song of the Day - It's Not Right But It's Okay (Thunderpuss Remix) - Whitney Houston
I just finished watching last week's episode of Glee, which featured the songs of Whitney Houston. Though Glee can be really corny sometimes, every once in awhile certain episodes get me...like this one. I found myself listening to Whitney after the show had ended and decided to post this one today. In the episode, Blaine, played by Darren Criss, sings this one to his boyfriend Kurt (Chris Colfer)after discovering he'd been texting with another guy. Though not as good as the original, the performance was a good one and it moved me to select it as my choice for Song of the Day.
The Thunderpuss mix of "It's Not Right, But It's Okay" was a very popular dance song from 1999. With the prominent drums and synthesizers of the track, coupled with Whitney's vocals, filled dance floors whenever it came on and even in the weeks following her death this was the one song I heard a couple of times in clubs. Oh the memories! Enjoy and Happy Tuesday!

Song of the Day - Step by Step - Whitney Houston

Today is Saturday, February 18th, 2012, the day that Whitney Houston will be laid to rest, and I wanted to mark the occasion with one last tribute to the fallen star.
"Step by Step" is a song Whitney recorded for the 1996 movie "The Preacher's Wife." The song was originally written and recorded by Annie Lennox and reworked into more of a down-home gospel tune by Houston. It was the first time in a long time she'd done anything up tempo and the song became a success as it climbed to #15 on Billboard's Hot 100 Chart. Junior Vazquez' remix of the song also made for a nice dance floor ditty! Enjoy!

Step by Step
Well there's a bridge and there's a river that I still must cross
As I'm going on my journey
Oh, I might be lost
And there's a road I have to follow, a place I have to go
Well no-one told me just how to get there
But when I get there I'll know
Cuz I'm taking it
Step By Step, Bit by Bit,
Stone By Stone (Yeah), Brick by Brick (Oh, yeah)
Step By Step, Day By Day, Mile by mile (ooh, ooh, ooh)
And this old road is rough and ruined
So many dangers along the way
So many burdens might fall upon me
So many troubles that I have to face
Oh, but I won't let my spirit fail me
Oh, I won't let my spirit go
Until I get to my destination
I'm gonna take it slowly cuz I'm making it mine
Step By Step (you know I'm taking it), bit by bit (bit by bit, come move),
stone by stone (yeah), brick by brick (brick by brick by brick by brick mmm...)
Step by step (step by step uh-huh), day by day (day by day-ee),
mile by mile (ooh), go your own way.
Say it, baby, don't give up
You got to hold on to what you got,
Oh, baby, don't give up,
You got to keep on moving on don't stop (yeah yeah).
I know you're hurting, and i know you're blue,
i know you're hurting but don't let the bad things get to you.
I'm taking it step by step (ohohoh), bit by bit (bit by bit come move),
stone by stone (stone by stone yeah), brick by brick (brick by brick by brick by brick),
Step by step (i'm gonna take it now),day by day (day by day-ee),
mile by mile (ooh), go your own way!
(c'mon baby got to keep moving),
(i'm taking it step by step), bit by bit,
stone by stone (yeah, stone by stone), brick by brick
c'mon baby,
step by step keep on moving, day by day (day by day-ee),
mile by mile by mile by mile,go your own way,
c'mon baby got to keep moving, bit by bit (bit by bit, bit by bit)....

Music News: VH1's Greatest Women; Madonna's 38th Top Ten; Whitney Love

All this week, the music channel VH1 has been counting down its’ list of the 100 Greatest Women in Music, and the big winner is…you guessed it, Madonna! The five-hour miniseries is the latest in the popular Greatest countdowns aired on the network, and this one concludes tonight, Friday, February 17th at 10PM. This particular list only takes into account the past 20 years, during which time Madge has been at her most popular.
Here’s a list of the top ten greatest women, according to VH1:
#10 – P!nk
#9 – Mary J. Blige
#8 – Christina Aguilera
#7 – Janet Jackson
#6 – Whitney Houston
#5 – Adele
#4 – Lady Gaga
#3 – Beyonce
#2 – Mariah Carey
#1 – Madonna
The list is pretty good, but not perfect in my eyes. I have no idea what VH1’s criteria was for choosing these ladies in this particular order, but if you’re going by the last 20 years, then I’d say there would be many on the list who’d be further atop the list than newer artists like Adele or Lady Gaga. Hmmm, I may just have to come up with my own list…
Other great ladies found on my iPod who made the list include Britney Spears (#11), Alannis Morissette (#15), Katy Perry (#17), Missy Elliott (#18), Kelly Clarkson (#19), Rihanna (#20), Sade (#30), Cher (#31), Shakira (#36), Nicki Minaj (#40), Kylie Minogue (#47), Nelly Furtado (#51), Macy Gray (#70), Natalie Merchant (#71), and Robyn (#87). Several girl groups also made the list, including the Salt n Pepa (#37), En Vogue (#52), Destiny’s Child (#59), and the Pussycat Dolls (#100).
For a complete listing of VH1’s 100 Greatest Women in Music, check out their website here, and tune in tonight at 10 for the top 20.
Madonna’s “Gimme All Your Luvin” becomes her 38th Top Ten Single
There’s been some hot action from the ladies on this week’s Billboard charts. Madonna’s new single, which she performed at the Super Bowl, has hit the #10 spot on the magazine’s Hot 100 charts this week. The achievement extends to 38 the number of times Madge has had a top ten song, the most in history, besting the Beatles by four and Michael Jackson and Stevie Wonder by ten. Go Madge!

Whitney Love
It’s not too big of a surprise that there’s been a surge in interest in Whitney Houston’s music since her death last Saturday, but three of her best loved songs all made it back to the Hot 100 more than twenty years after they first hit big. The song, “I Will Always Love You,” the theme song to the 1992 film, “The Bodyguard,” climbed all the way back into the top ten at #7. Her 1987 dance hit, “I Wanna Dance with Somebody” reached #35, and “Greatest Love of All” hit #41. I’m sure that Whitney is somewhere smiling down...
Also on the Hot 100 this week, Kelly Clarkson holds steady at #1 with “Stronger,” Adele at #2 with “Fire to the Rain,” and Rihanna’s “We Found Love” remains in the Top Ten at #6. Way to go ladies! Here's Whitney:

February 15th, 2012 - Writing Wednesday
It's hard to believe it, but Writing Wednesday is here already and all I've got this week is stuff from John's World. Here's a recap of some of this week's top stories:

Whitney Houston
Several big things have happened this week, most notably the tragic death of singer Whitney Houston. The story broke out early Saturday night and my first reaction was to do an impromptu tribute featuring one of my favorite Whitney songs...
If tomorrow is judgement day
And I'm standin' on the front line
And the Lord ask me what I did with my life
I will say I spent it with you
R.I.P. Whitney Houston "My Love Is Your Love"
Of course, I couldn't let the death of such an important person in my music world go with just a single song and a note. Like many others, Whitney Houston will forever be a part of the soundtrack of my life and I just had to pay some sort of tribute to the gifted songstress who touched many with her words and her voice. Check out Memories and Songs of Whitney Houston.
Along with all of the tributes and news coverage of Whitney's death came an ugly story that I first read on Monday and had to share. It's really hard to believe, and sad too, that such disgusting racism still exists among us. A Fox News' report of the death of Whitney Houston elicited upwards of 4,000 comments on their Facebook page, and many of the comments are appalling, to say the least. I'm ashamed to call some of these people Americans. Check out the story below:

The Grammy's
The other big story this week, of course, was the 54th Annual Grammy Awards show that aired on Sunday night. The show had its' moments, with superb performances by Bruno Mars, Chris Brown, David Guetta, and a heartfelt rendition of "I Will Always Love You" by Jennifer Hudson. Nicki Minaj raised quite a few eyebrows with her, um, strange performance, too, but the big story of the night was Miss Adele.

MJB Pulling for Adele at 54th Annual Grammy Awards
On the day of the show, I read a piece online that one of my favorite singers, Mary J Blige, was a big fan of Adele and that she was hoping for a six-Grammy sweep by the British phenom, which is of course what happened. Adele was simply adorable at the Grammy's, beautiful, gracious, and super endearing all at once. Her down-to-earth persona is a big part of what makes this very talented so special, and Mary wasn't the only one, I'm sure, who was happy for her big sweep.
In the show's after-buzz, the singer's people announced that she had decided on the newest single from the Album of the Year, "21," a more upbeat "Rumor Has It." Read on...
"Rumour Has It" to be Adele's next single
A Rant for the Week
There was a story buzzing the other day about Madonna's Super Bowl performance that got my juices flowing. During the performance of "Gimme All Your Luvin," rapper M.I.A. flipped the bird, which was caught on camera. Yahoo ran a story days after speculating whether or not the NFL would take action against the British born star. To me, the story was just another example of irresponsible sensationalism that only works to fuel outrage at the incident, which beforehand had been relatively obscure.
The story reminded me of another Super Bowl performance incident that actually worked to dismantle the highly successful career of one Janet Jackson, and I just had to say something about it:
Fingers and Birds, Nipples and Careers: WTF?
I haven't seen any other news stories on the web since this one appeared, which I hope is a sign of the story fading. Should I see or hear anything further on it, you will surely hear about it here...

Fox Viewers Show Their True Colors with Ugly Diatribes Against Whitney Houston

I saw a post on Keith Olbermann’s Facebook fan page today that disturbed me enough that I want to talk about it here. The post referred to an article about Fox News fans and their pretty disgusting remarks about singer Whitney Houston’s death on Saturday. The article appears on a website called little green footballs and it was written by site founder Charles Johnson.
I read through Mr. Johnson’s article, Fox News Commenters Respond to Whitney Houston’s Death With Deluge of Hate and Racism, and was appalled at some of the comments he shared. Though he claims to have seen almost 5,000 comments in the thread, at the moment I’m writing this, there are only a little over 3,500. Perhaps Fox removed some of the more disgusting ones.
Mr. Johnson says that the commenters “deliberately misspell their slurs or insert random spaces, so they aren’t caught by word filters,” and the “likes” to many of the comments only work to magnify the horror that there are actually fellow Americans who think like this. Read on and you’ll see what I mean.
Rather than copy and paste some of the pretty inane remarks noted by Johnson in his story, I went to the original thread on Facebook to find my own to share. Right from the get-go I found plenty of diatribes against both Houston herself and the coverage surrounding her death:
I am very upset that Fox News covered the death Whitney Huston! Not that there was plane crash 3 yrs ago yesterday! Flight 3407! I cared more about than her death! I knew people that knew people on that plane crash!
Enough with Whitney Houston already..................Yes, I loved her music.......I don't think she had a bad one......but enough is enough....she was only an entertainer, albeit an excellent one, ... not someone who will change this world and make it better.....she's getting more coverage than Jesus did at Christmas. ENOUGH
Another dead crackhead who wasted god-given talent. No loss, AMF
Guess we'll end up forever celebrating another deceased celebrity drug addict as if she were Mother Theresa.
Too much media coverage on this. Another self-important egomanic self-destructs. So what? I couldn't care less.
And so it went, on and on, but these weren’t even the most objectionable comments. Like I mentioned before, maybe Fox removed some of the nastier ones that Johnson shared, or maybe I just couldn’t find them. I only looked through about 300 of the 3500 out there. Here are some of the more disturbing ones Johnson shared in his piece:
A tragedy is when someones passes away from a terminal disease or something else that no one saw coming.Whitney is just an inferior lo w life ni gg er that needed to go,no tragedy,no loss.
SHe couldn’t even sell issues of “the national enquirer” anymore. Everyone was tired of the TNB. Niqqer flaps her lips and screeches, niqqer becomes rich. Niqqer ends up nearly broke after spending all of her money. Niqqer in constant fights and drug binges. Niqqer ODs when she learns she’s nearly broke and she is so wasted physically she can’t make another album. Niqqer hit the end of the road, niqqer thinking and niqqer behavior led her to where she had nothing. She couldn’t face life without the “bling bling”, she knew she would never have any more “kaching kaching”
I am now patiently waiting for the grand messiah Obama to have a blk fundraiser in honor of Whitley with Kevin Costner as guest of honor with all the Hollywood elites invited along with Alan Colmes, Al Sharpton, Jeremia Wright, Charles Rangel, etc. with a menu featuring blk eyed peas, grits, Imported Kobe steak, Dom Perignon, sweet potato pie and a mus lll im scarf as a momento of this great occasion.
Of course the door prize will be an all expense paid trip to Kenya to visit the Obama tribe and birthplace of his ancestors while the American people still look for this imposter’s birth certificate in Hawaii !!!
Whitney who?!? some /\/iggress music artist that had a couple of hits in the early 90’s. She’s since been forgotten and now she’s dead.. Who cares..
Pretty disgusting, huh? Now I used to be a political junkie and I know all about the supposedly “fair and balanced’ news coverage they put out there. Apparently they cater to a certain type of viewer that I simply can’t relate to. I’ve said it before and I will say it again and again until the day I die: DON’T BE A HATER!!!! The only thing I hate in life is a hater.
These people are simply that, haters, and they’re the same haters who hate gay people and liberals and the poor and just about everyone else that’s not like them. Yet they’re the first to say that they’re proud to be American, proud to be a citizen of the greatest country in the world, which ironically was built on the diversity that is our true makeup.
Not all of the comments on that Facebook page were negative, to be fair. There were plenty of people who expressed genuine sorrow over Whitney’s death, and there were others who stood up to the haters and called them out on their vitriol, only to have more hate and insults spewed back at them. It just proves that you can’t have any kind of civil debate with these types of people. All you can do is stay as far away from them as possible.
There was one comment I found towards the end of my search that I simply loved. To me, it was the perfect response to the many ignoramuses that showed their own true, ugly colors for all the world to see:
I used to struggle with depression, drugs and alcohol. Then I stopped watching Fox news and I'm better.

Memories and Songs of Whitney Houston
If I
Should stay
I would only be in your way
So I'll go
But I know
I'll think of you every step of
the way
I Will Always Love You
The opening to this song was always so dramatic. Though I've never been a huge fan of the ballad, this was one that you couldn't escape. The signature theme song to "The Bodyguard," penned by Dolly Parton, was on the radio everywhere in 1992, hitting the #1 spot for 14 weeks, which was a record at the time. It is one of Whitney Houston's most memorable songs and has surely been played on the radio a lot in the past several hours or so since we all learned of her untimely death.
A moment I won't soon forget
Whitney Houston's death is one of those things that I'll always remember where I was when I heard the news, just like Michael Jackson and Amy Winehouse and so many others. I was on the phone with my friend Rich around 7:30 and my sister sent me a text to tell me the sad news.
"Oh my God, Whitney Houston is dead," I shouted into the phone.
"Nah, it's probably just one of those hoaxes," Rich shot back. For a second there, I thought maybe he was right. After all, just a couple of weeks ago, some idiot put a rumor out there that Jon Bon Jovi had passed. That wasn't true, of course.
I ran upstairs to the pc and it only took a second to see already there were several Facebook posts about the singer's death. Wow, so it was true. The next couple of hours were spent staring into space in disbelief, listening to Whitney. Of course, it shouldn't have been that much of a shock. Things have not been going well for poor Whitney the past several years. Still, what a tragic ending she met!
I Wanna Dance With Somebody
This is the song I've seen the most posted on Facebook and Twitter walls since the announcement last night. This was the title cut to Whitney's 2nd album from 1987, and it, too, was a #1 smash. Such a happy and fun song!
Million Dollar Bill
This one was Whitney's last single in 2009. The song was from her 'comeback' album, "I Look to You," and neither the song nor the set fared very well. During promotional appearances for the record, reports abounded that Houston's voice was no longer the beautiful instrument it once was, ravaged by years of toxic substances being ingested into her body, including smoke.
Even though the song peaked at #100, and only for one week, it did hit the #1 spot on the dance charts. To me, it's another one of those feel-good songs of hers that I like so much. Check out "Million Dollar Bill":
Greatest Love of All
I believe that children are our future
Teach them well and let them lead the way
Show them all the beauty they possess inside...
Ah, this was one of Whitney's most beautiful songs, and it was her third straight #1 off of her debut album, "Whitney Houston." I remember listening to that album over and over again when it came out in 1985. I remember thinking that she was so beautiful, and her voice just as wonderful. I went to see her perform at Jones Beach during her first ever tour, and I remember her sounding as good on stage as she did on record, though her dancing prowess was notoriously weak. That was okay, though, her voice was really all she ever needed.
How Will I Know
There's a boy
I know
He's the one I'm dreaming of...
Of course if there weren't any up tempo tunes on that first record, I probably wouldn't have loved her as much as I did. This was Whitney's first 'dance' record and it was also her second #1 hit. Enjoy this one...I just did all over again!
I'm Every Woman
This is one of my favorite Whitney Houston songs. It's a remake of a Chaka Khan classic and it was recorded for "The Bodyguard" soundtrack. During the years I was a deejay, this was always a 'go-to' song for me, filling up the dance floor every single time I played it, and of course there I'd be behind my booth dancing right along! Now just click play and dance...you know you want to!
Rest in Peace Whitney
As I write this, more information has come out about Whitney's tragic passing. Horrifyingly, it looks as if she may have drowned in a bathtub in her hotel room in Beverly Hills. She was found submerged under the water with her feet sticking out of the tub. As is an all too familiar ring these days, several prescription medication bottles were found in her room, including Xanax. When will somebody start doing something about this?!?!
I could go on and on with even more Whitney songs and videos, but I think I've given you a nice sampling of much of what she has done. The outpouring of shock and grief at her death shows just how much she meant to many of us who grew up listening to her. Like all music, many of Whitney's songs go hand in hand with special memories for many of us, and for that I thank her. She holds a special place in many hearts and she will be missed greatly. Rest in peace Whitney!
NOTE: The photo above was taken at the Jones Beach concert I mentioned in this post. It was taken by my good friend Blanche, who back then was a talented photographer who worked for a local publication and was given an up close view of the singer during the show. Unfortunately my scanner is not working and so the photo is a photo of the photo, lol. Thanks Blanchie!

R.I.P. Whitney Houston "My Love Is Your Love"

Wow, I'm sure that by now many of you have already heard the shocking news about Whitney Houston. Apparently, the gifted singer with a notoriously tumultuous history has passed away at the age of 48. Like many of you, I'm both shocked and saddened at the news. There's not much more to say at the moment as no details have been given yet.
Here's one of my favorite Whitney songs, one that was a hit both in its ballad and dance forms. It's really a soulful, heartfelt tune and this version resides in my "All Time Favorites" folder in my iPod. Rest in Peace Whitney!

Song of the Day - I'm Every Woman - Whitney Houston

Source: collegecandy
We celebrate Friday with a classic dance song. This is Whitney Houston's 1992 remake of Chaka Kahn's "I'm Every Woman." It's from the soundtrack to the movie "The Bodyguard" and it took the original to new heights. I remember the dance floor always filled when I played it as a deejay and I was always boogeying right along with everyone else. Great tune!

April 22, 2011 - A nice date; advertisers; Splash Thursdays; Y!CN
Today is Friday and I’m in a writing groove! This is the fourth piece I’ve penned today and I need to take a break once I’m done with it or else I’ll find myself still in my p.j.’s, sitting at my pc at 9PM tonight. It’s not often that I get into such a creative mood, full of ideas, and I have to go with it when it happens. So here goes…
My Thursday
Yesterday was not a good day for me. My entry described all of the things that were going on around me and I was very frustrated with all of it, though as I said in my post, I wasn’t going to let any of it get to me and I didn’t. Once I had finished writing it, I hopped in the shower and got ready for my date.
Now I don’t want to share his name, and I warned him last night that any interaction with me could get him mentioned here, so I can’t not discuss it. I have to admit, I was a little apprehensive about the date for several reasons, all having to do with the ex. As I noted in a previous post, the new guy is the same age as him and they’re both Hispanic, so he immediately reminded me of my ex when I met him. I’m also still smarting over him and I have a lot of trepidation about setting off in the direction of another relationship right now, but he is nice and he’s cute and I’ve decided not to worry about it…just keep moving forward!

In the end, I was so happy that I went. We ate at one of my favorite Brazilian restaurants, Greenfield’s, which used to be here on Long Island, but closed awhile ago. The conversation was comfortable and nice, and once again I was reminded of my ex because there were eerie similarities to both of our stories. I hadn’t realized beforehand that his breakup was even more recent than mine, which is probably a good thing because it puts us both in similar places. Anyway, he’s been through a lot of things in his short life and this morning I was pleased to find out that our conversation inspired him to write in his own blog for the first time.
Now I’m not going to share it here. I would never do that without asking first, but I read it this morning and found it to be a very well done introduction to his purpose. He called his post “Pieces to a Puzzle” and in it he referred to his future blog entries as puzzle pieces that will eventually make up the whole of his life and who he is. I feel the same exact way with my own writings, whether on here or at Y!CN. All of the pieces together make up a complete picture of who I am as a person, and his entry inspired me to post my “J is for John” piece.
So I move forward in time with an open mind, not expecting anything, and just enjoying the moments we’ll share. Whether I get a new friend or anything else out of it, I’ll be better off in the end for I know that knowing him will enrich my life somehow. We’ll see…
Monetizing the blog
As many of you may have noticed, I’ve been placing advertisements within the blog in the hopes of generating some income from it. Since it’s taken off in recent months (I’m occasionally outnumbering my hits on Y!CN with this blog…wow!), I’ve been focusing more on it at the expense of my page views at Y!CN and other endeavors. The income from the other sites has dropped with less articles posted and so I need to find something to make up for it.
Though I will try my best not to have too many ads on here, especially pop-ups (I hate those!), I will continue to place ads on where to find the songs I post within these pages. I’ve placed links to both digital downloads (iTunes) and traditional CD’s (Amazon) below videos so that any of you who enjoy the music posted here can easily find a place to get it. I hope that helps and going forward I’ll be looking to add some more useful advertisements that relate to the content of the site.
Splash Thursday
After my date last night, I returned to Splash for some much needed dancing therapy. With all that happened yesterday and thoughts of my ex nagging at me, I needed to let loose a little on the dance floor. I was once again amazed at how much better the place is on weeknights than on weekends. The music is much better overall and last night was just about as crowded as I’d ever seen it.

I danced so much last night that I was forced to leave early because my shirt was literally soaked from sweat. That was okay, though; because by the time I left I’d had enough ‘dancing therapy’ and was feeling better. In the meantime, here’s a great dance song they played last night from back in the day:

Y!CN Articles
Here are some pieces I’ve published since the last time I added links here:
Keys to Life #7 – Stop Blaming Everyone Else
The latest in the series and a good one, I think. Three more to go and then the real fun begins…
Remembering the 1994 New York Rangers: My Most Treasured Sports Memento
This one was an assignment I claimed from Y!CN. Though I don’t follow sports like I used to, I still enjoy a game here and there. My favorite sport is hockey. I think it’s the most exciting, non-stop action in any sport and the Rangers are my absolute favorite team! 1994 was an awesome year for NY sports and I’ve got a really special memento to prove it!
Pop Music News Weekly, April 12th
I missed out on my weekly post this week, but here’s last week’s edition with some exciting stuff.
My Long Island
This one’s the latest in my “Crossroads” series. I hadn’t written on that in awhile and since summer is approaching fast and I’ve resigned myself to staying here on Long Island for it, I decided to share some of my favorite things about the place I currently live.
Rihanna’s Top Ten Songs…So Far!
I love Rihanna, and top ten lists are always fun to write and they get lots of hits.
Well, as Porky Pig used to say, “That’s all folks.” Have a great weekend!
