Here's a beautiful ballad from the 1988 eponymous debut album of one Tracy Chapman. Tracy is a master lyricist and the entire album is filled with heartfelt and soulful tunes that can be at times absolutely mesmerizing. This one is one of my favorites. So sad!
"Baby Can I Hold You"
Sorry
Is all that you can't say
Years gone by and still
Words don't come easily
Like sorry like sorry
Forgive me
Is all that you can't say
Years gone by and still
Words don't come easily
Like forgive me forgive me
But you can say baby
Baby can I hold you tonight
Maybe if I told you the right words
At the right time you'd be mine
I love you
Is all that you can't say
Years gone by and still
Words don't come easily
Like I love you I love you
Is all that you can't say
Years gone by and still
Words don't come easily
Like sorry like sorry
Forgive me
Is all that you can't say
Years gone by and still
Words don't come easily
Like forgive me forgive me
But you can say baby
Baby can I hold you tonight
Maybe if I told you the right words
At the right time you'd be mine
I love you
Is all that you can't say
Years gone by and still
Words don't come easily
Like I love you I love you
Love Tracy Chapman, and I love this album! You picked a good track from it! She has done so much good work since this debut album, but it is still one of my favorite records. Her third album "Matters Of The Heart" is also good...and I like the album "Telling Stories" as well!
