A-Z Blogging - P is for Pirate Ship Rides

Pirate ship rides have been around for some time now and virtually every amusement park out there has one, with varying names.  There's the Pirate Ship, the Buccaneer, the Mayflower, Pharoah's Fury, Sea Dragon,, and plenty more, and believe it or not, these rides have been around since 1897.  Basically, these rides are giant swings, and they go pretty damned high (some even go all the way around....scary!), leaving butterflies in your midsection with each upward swing.  Though not as exciting as a roller coaster, pirate ship rides are an indelible part of the amusement industry and are always fun to ride!

"P" Coaster of the Day - Phoenix -
Knoebels Amusement Park, Elysburg, PA

A classic wooden roller coaster that originated in 1947 in San Antonio, Texas, now gives Pennsylvania riders thrills all these years later up in Knoebels Amusement Park.  I got to ride this one back in 2010 and it was fun.  Take a ride yourself...
